When we think about monkeys we often think about those cute and cheeky baboons, chimps and orang-utans. There are some awesome monkey outfits to choose from. You’ll be spoilt for choice. For infants, toddlers, children and even adults there are some terrifically cute costumes, but if you’re looking for something a little more terrifying then there are also some really creepy and scary ones, ideal for Halloween

One great thing about monkey costumes is that you can be anonymous. No one will know who is inside the costume.

The flying monkey costume from the Wizard of Oz is particularly scary looking. Known also as winged monkeys in the original Wizard of Oz novel, these intelligent but evil monkeys were controlled by a golden hat worn by the Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy and her companions were set upon by the flying monkeys as they began their journey to the Emerald City. Tin Man and Scarecrow were left in a right state by the monkeys – in tatters. In the novel these evil monkeys speak, but in the 1939 movie they don’t speak making them even more scary and malevolent. There are some fantastic flying monkey costumes online including one with a really scary mask showing sharp pointed teeth and fake hair.

Then there’s another scary and terrifying monkey, King Kong. In fact, as we see in the film, King Kong has a really gentle side which he displays towards Ann. We feel really sorry for King Kong by the end of the movie. A gorilla suit would make you very scary this Halloween and create a big reaction, I think.

Another really scary looking gorilla costume is the Creature Reacher Mad Ape. The costume’s mask is snarling and really angry looking. It’s certainly an ugly looking brute – ideal for Halloween!
